It is impossible to get stuck in hypnosis. You are awake, aware and in control during the entire process.
No. A hypnotherapist cannot make you do anything that you do not want to do. Forget what you see in Hollywood – it’s entertaining and has its place – but it is very different than therapeutic hypnosis.
Hypnosis is a tool that can help you, just as it has helped millions of other people, take control of their lives. There are very few therapeutic modalities that work faster or more effectively than hypnosis.
Yes. Hypnosis is absolutely safe and you will be in control throughout the entire process. Hypnosis was approved by the British Medical Association in 1955 and by the American Medical Association in 1958. The American Psychological Association approved hypnosis as a science in 1960. Hypnosis has been safely and effectively used by medical and psychological professionals for over 200 years.
The hypnosis process is a partnership between us, with the common goal of helping you move forward in your life. You will always play an active role, especially in our interactive format.
Sessions for adults are usually 1-2 hours in duration, while sessions for children don’t typically require as much time. Double sessions are available for teenagers and adults.
Like any type of therapy, each client is unique and the issues of each client requires personalized attention. Therefore, I like to discuss the details with each client before estimating the number of sessions that may be needed to completely resolve the issue. I have found however, that many issues can be permanently resolved in 5-8 sessions.
Sessions begin with us discussing the issue you want to resolve, your expectations and goals, and I will answer any questions or concerns you may have. Once all questions are thoroughly answered and you feel comfortable to proceed, the hypnosis portion of the session will begin.
Most people can be hypnotized if they have normal intelligence, can understand and follow simple instructions, and if they want to be hypnotized. Hypnosis cannot be done against a person’s will and is safe and effective for children, teenagers and adults.
Yes, hypnosis is natural and occurs regularly in a person’s daily routine. In fact, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. For example, if you have ever watched a tv program or movie and become so completely absorbed that you were oblivious to your surroundings, or ever driven down a highway and “zoned out†and missed your turn, then you have been in a (light) hypnotic state.
The hypnotic state is simply a state of focused awareness. You are always in complete control. You will feel very relaxed and comfortable, but you could move into a fully alert state and come out of hypnosis if you desired. Hypnosis does not override free will.
Hypnosis can be successfully accomplished in person in my office, over the phone or by video chat like Skype or Zoom. Some clients find they actually relax more deeply when hypnotized via phone or through video sessions in the comfort of their own surroundings.
Hypnosis is a state of focused attention, resulting in an increased ability to accept ideas that might not otherwise bypass the mind’s critical factor. The critical factor is like a gatekeeper that limits the information passing from conscious awareness into the storehouse of the subconscious mind.
Programming of the subconscious mind occurs from birth through age 6 or 7, so while you may consciously choose beliefs that include things like earning more money, having better relationships, feeling less stress, etc., if those choices contradict the programming formed when young, your choices never get past the critical factor.
Along with a specially designed form of progressive relaxation, hypnosis relaxes the control created by the critical factor so that you can better access the doors that protect your subconscious programming and beliefs.
Using Holographic Memory Resolution, an interactive, or two way communication while you are in this relaxed hypnotic state, we are able to discover what the root cause of your challenge might actually be. Once we discover the actual root cause, we can then dissolve its stranglehold on your life.
Until you actually uncover the root cause and dissolve it, the issue will typically continue to surface in your life. It’s like a bad apple in a box full of apples. You can spray air freshener over the box and it might smell nice for a while, but the apple is still bad and its rotting smell will quickly surface when you open the box.
